"When you’re riding the greatest torque to weight ratio on the planet, you must blast beyond lethargic unassuming cageriders every few minutes to release pent up machine/man stress-inducing anxiety. There exists uncontrolled relish and glee in this exercise."

CB550_MF

On a late Sunday before my three hour drive back to Detroit, Jordan and I mocked and fitted the booty of his cb550 in his shop.

Riding is on the horizon...

German at Autorama_MF

My lady was in town so I had to show her the metal madness of Detroit Autorama 2012

Nose fairing mockups_MF

Just a start with cardboard and spray paint, plan on moving on to steel mockups today

Extended swingarm mockup_MF

I got the swingarm from a salvaged CB750 DOHC (79' I uppologize) 4 yrs newer modified and installed successfully.

Fit first try and will definitely make the bike fit my gumpy ass a lot better.

8.2.12

extended swingarm_MF

81' cb750 swingarm will give me almost a 3 inch stretch....new vs old.

This will help proportion the bike better to my tall ass.

New tank_MF

Got a tank off a Kawasaki KX 440, after some sand blast and a raise to the tail fairing down the center to match, I think she will sit pretty

parts run with Restoration Academy_MF

One of my favorite things about America is the freedom and accessibility of parts....

This trip we ventured to Indiana into the hills (yes they have them) to rescue some 40's Lincoln parts for RA's new custom stretch limo

Builders wet dream_MF

Today I went to the motorcycle salvage yard near my hometown, this place stirs up building fantasies like no other.

I picked up a new tank and headlight for the CB...and dreamed about much more...

A quick and dirty_MF

Some hot shots from the 2012 NAIAS_MF

Has an opportunity to sketch at the Ford booth and talk about our products today at the Detroit autoshow.

Was a fun break from work (even though work rocks) and nice checkin out some of the concepts and classics.

A good days work_MF

I have desperately missed the aftermath of a full days motofancy(ing) on my hands. Good to be back in the shop!

Welds are cleaned up on the frame and now to mock up new front-end fairing ideas...any preferences?

A bent 22" rim in the dumpster, I think I'll turn it into something useful...

It hangs, now I need to fabricate light mounts.

CB update_MF

As 7 months have nearly passed, I have started my full time job as a designer at Ford! Has been a great ride to get here.

Unfortunately my CB hasn't had such a great ride...as I rode to the employee car show she seized up. But this makes for a perfect opportunity rip her down and start over...here are the beginnings of a makeover for the girl
